Stroke Day

World stroke day celebration came in to existence in 1990’s due to the progression of stroke data worldwide. In 2010 World stroke organization declared stroke as a public health emergency and decided to celebrate World stroke day on 29 th October every year, to make an awareness regarding, diagnosis and treatment of stroke. In connection to this, Lisie college of Pharmacy and Department of Neurology, Lisie Hospital jointly celebrated this year’s world stroke day on 28 th October 2023 based on the theme “Together we are # Greater than stroke”. Dr. B. Bindhu. HOD, Department of Neurology, Lisie Hospital delivered an awareness talk regarding stroke.Rev.Fr. Davis Padannakkal, Assistant Director, Lisie Hospital greeted the gathering. Rev.Fr. (Dr.) Paul Karedan, Director of Lisie Hospital shared his experience and importance of stroke day. He also flagged off the Walkathon which gave an awareness regarding stroke to the public. Leaflets
emphasizing the reasons, diagnosis and methods of treatments of stroke were distributed among the public. Doctors and staff of department of Neurology students and staffs of Lisie College of Pharmacy, participated in the Walkathon. The students also conducted a Flash-mob in the OP waiting area of Lisie Hospital and spreaded the awareness regarding stroke to the patients and bystanders present there.
